About Mahaswamiji

Shri. Sh. Br. Chandrashekhar Shivacharya Mahaswamiji is the 59th Pontiff of Hukkeri Hiremath, he was born in M. Chandargi, at a small village in Ramdurg taluk of Belagavi district on July 20, 1970. Sh. Chandrashekhar Shivacharya Mahaswamiji has studied in M. Chandargi, Badami, Shivamogga, Mysore and finally graduated from JSS College of Mysore in 1990.

During his early years, he was given mantra deeksha and was taught the Siddhanta Shikhamani shloka by his father and would go on to receive Gurukul vidya from his patron. The spiritual footprints left by saints and the life story of the Panchacharya inspired the young mind. Since childhood his dedication towards Veda, Upanishad, Agamas, Veerashaiva purnagalu, Muppin Shadakshari and Nijaguna Shivayog epics study, Panchacharya parampara, religious awareness, Basavanna Sharana Vachana chants, classical studies of Veerashaiva rituals, reading life stories of Sharanas made him Bhakti Jnana Vyragya. Veerashaiva sanskara, vachana recitation in childhood attracted him to religion and he found salvation in it.

He completed his primary education in M. Chandargi, and his parents noticed the early signs of renouncement and they sent his son to Badami Shivayoga mandir for higher studies. The Shivayoga mandir built by the great sage Hangal Kumara Shivayogi who spread the message to the world that Guru and Virakht are one and the same. There Sh. Chandrashekhar Guruji studied Rudra, Namak, Chamak, Purushasuktha and Mahima sutras. Later on he studied rituals of Veerashaivas, Shathakatharya quotations by Sh. Shivakumar Shastri of Shri Mahant Durundeshwara math of Murgod.

For Sanskrit studies he went to Hirekalmatha of Honnali village in Shivamogga district, and along with spiritual studies, he completed high school and passed SSLC in 1986, and during his early years in school, he became socially aware.
